Strength training is one of the most valuable forms of exercise. It supports your muscle strength, your bones, your energy and your confidence — in every life stage.
Why strength?
- Muscles help you with everyday movements like lifting, climbing stairs and carrying.
- Loading your bones contributes to maintaining bone mass.
- Many women experience more energy and a better sense of their body.
How to start
Start with two short sessions a week of 20 to 30 minutes. Choose five basic movements: squat, hip hinge (such as a light deadlift), push, pull and a core exercise.
Focus on technique first. Pick a weight where the last two repetitions are still just about doable with good form.
Listen to your body
Stop if you feel pain or dizziness. Are you pregnant, recovering from childbirth or an injury, or do you have a medical condition? Consult a doctor or physiotherapist first.
